When your child needs emergency care, our Ronald McDonald STAR Corner at Akron Children’s Beeghly Campus is there.
The STAR Corner is a supervised learning environment for children aged 3 – 6 whose siblings are receiving care.

In 2023, the STAR Corner served 807 children and distributed 1,786 Happy Wheels cart items.
On-the-Go Nourishment at the Hospital
When your child is ill, it can be hard to focus on your own needs. Our Meal Bags at Akron Children’s Beeghly Campus and Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth’s NICU can help sustain you during the day.
The free bags contain a variety of shelf-stable, healthy food and drink items.
“Every morning, I rush to get my kids ready for school and then rush to the NICU…The breakfast bags have been a blessing on these busy, stressful, and hungry days.”
In 2023, we provided 5,408 Meal Bags to Mahoning Valley families.
A Place to Stay When Care is Far from Home
When your child is in the hospital or needs treatment in Akron or Cleveland, our Ronald McDonald House locations offer a comfortable place to stay, FREE of charge. Meals, laundry, parking and other necessities are all included.

In 2023, 178 families, or 12.4% of all Ronald McDonald House guest families were from Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana county.
Help in the Hospital During Your Stay
Whether you’re staying at our House or can’t leave your child’s bedside, Ronald McDonald Family Room programs are a place to rest and recharge steps from your child’s room at:
— Cleveland Clinic Children’s
— UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital
— Cleveland Clinic Fairview
— MetroHealth Medical Center
Family Rooms have a kitchenette with free snacks and beverages, boxed lunches on certain days, and a peaceful lounge. Some also have a private restroom, shower, and/or laundry facilities with toiletries and supplies provided.
Resources for all of Ohio, and beyond
RedTreehouse.org, the online Ronald McDonald Family Resource Link, supports families and children with challenges, disabilities, and healthcare needs by helping them find the resources they need to thrive. Red Treehouse listings are individually reviewed for accuracy and relevance.
Pathways to support are curated by medical condition and area of need to guide you to commonly needed resources. Parent and Pro Picks offers a resource blog on a variety of topics and conditions, with contributions from medical professionals and parents of children with special needs and medical challenges.
